K-Bay Air Guided Wilderness Brown Bear Viewing. We depart from the airport at Homer, Alaska and fly about 120 nautical miles southwest to land on one of several beaches that border Katmai National Park. We then join the bears in the park on foot. The bear viewing is great from early May to the end of September. This unusual reliability for viewing is due to the amazing abundance of food sources available along the Katmai coast. The bears have no reason to go elsewhere for food. To observe mating behavior May and June are best. For fishing behavior late June to September is best.
